WOW!
The Rev. Rob Stevens
WOW!
I’m rarely at a loss for words, but I am still searching for the words to describe this past Sunday. The gift of Presiding Bishop Michael Curry will last in our community’s cells for a long time. His sermon reminded us that Light wins and the work we do to be light in the world matters.
When I remember Sunday, I think of how available and open everyone was. The joy in the room was palpable from the spontaneous applause, to laughter, and yes, to tears. I pray I never forget the feeling of looking out on this congregation as the choir sang the last anthem after communion. I witnessed the love on your faces and how we were truly a community of faith holding the moment…all of us together.
Thank you does not come close to expressing my gratitude for this community. Yet, I wish to say simply thank you for being open and welcoming not just the Presiding Bishop, but the Holy Spirit. My hope and prayer is that we will take this rich nourishment and do as the bishop asked…Witness.
Be the light! Be the love! Amen and Alleluia!
