The Circle of the Church Year

Focus: How the church tells time

Extra cool this week: Bertha Rocray, head of the altar guild is going to meet all of us kids right after church for another tour of the sacristy and to watch the church turn from green to purple.

WE are excited to hear KIDS age 9+ are excited to acolyte. Bertha dreams of a youth altar guild. All these ideas would be great to discuss tomorrow, too!

Many are on vacation this week (my two boys, Easa and Amos, are staying home with their grandfather to have a cozy Sunday morning) but we will be at church to meet you if you’re ready for some fun! I have 5 complete Lenten bags left to distribute to anyone who didn’t participate last Sunday plus lots of other supplies to invite others in as the season continues.

At 9:30AM tomorrow, Sunday 2/27/22, Alice Weir and Ashley Wade will be ready to welcome children under 8 and under. Kids age 9 and up may head to the choir room with Tom Gruen. You can find us on the lower level of Thaxter Hall.

This is the final of 3 Sundays children will be discussing the ‘Circle of the Church Year’ in Sunday School, looking ahead to the Mystery of Easter, and bringing home some Lenten resources that will support our observance of the season in our whole lives, and hopefully share with our families!

Lent begins on Wednesday, March 2nd. The Ash Wednesday evening service at 6pm is very interesting and would be a great experience for older children. To see the church transformed, to experience the darkness of the night around them, and to witness and participate in the imposition of ashes would be very moving for children 8/9 years old and up.
