Blessings

Psalm 89:15

”Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk,

O Lord, in the light of thy countenance.”

As I think about something worthy of sharing with you this morning my mind is immediately brought to a piece of music, a praise song, that a dear friend shared with me pre pandemic. Our very own Holly Dayton made it part of her reflection way back on June 20, 2020. I want to share it with you again today in a slightly different format. Here’s a link for you to click on to enjoy a video of the artists performing and describing the song itself.  It is called The Blessing.  Take a moment and listen just for you.  Put on some headphones if you have them or just go somewhere that you have a little privacy and hit the play button.  This song and this music and this performance never fail to comfort and inspire me. If I’m feeling overwhelmed by the news of the day or by something that is challenging me in the moment (hello parable of the prodigal son!), turning to some “good vibrations” like this never fails to help.  There truly is something special about the power of sound, especially the sound of praiseful voices, that always helps me shift the atmosphere and refocus on the blessing that this life is and the “good news” that He is always with us. May it bring you the same gifts of joy and peace and communion that it continues to bring to me.
