And the bells rang

Summer Sunday Worship Service in the Goodwin Garden at Strawberry Banke was memorable today. Overcast, but no rain. The grass was green, the flowers abundantly colorful. A gathering of worshippers from our community at St. John's. Jennifer provided lovely music. Rob greeted us with gratitude for our presence. Anne gave a thoughtful sermon on expectations and how they can be a source of angst for many. Any of these could easily have been expected by those present, but the one thing that was not expected...As Rob opened the service of communion, he began "The great mystery of our faith", at which time the bells rang out from a neighboring church. Oh my! I looked up at Rob and he was smiling. This was not Easter Morning, nor Christmas eve. I am quite sure God was present at this gathering to grant His blessings upon us and to remind us that His world is truly beautiful. God does come when we might least expect him.
