We are so excited for this year's Intergenerational Parish Retreat at St. John's! We brought the retreat in-house this year so that we could gather as many of us as possible, no matter your age, ability, or outside commitments. This day will bring you into the best of our community, through worship, music with the Youth Choirs and the Chapel Street Band, delicious food, and both intergenerational and age-specific retreat activities.
COME AS YOU ARE - We encourage everyone to jump into this day! We have structured the day so that you can spend the day at church or opt into certain activities. There is no wrong way to participate. If you have specific questions, please reach out to The Rev. Aaron Jenkyn.
REGISTER - The food has already been ordered. The youth programs are being knit together under the thoughtful direction of Aaron Jenkyn. The worship service is almost fully constructed. And staff are working closely with our guest retreat leader, The Rev. Callie Swanlund.
It is certain - we are not US without YOU. And so, this day is offered as a gift to you and our whole community. The invitation is to come spend the day together, set the rest of the world down for these few hours, connect to God, to yourself, and to each other, don't cook, don't clean, just be present and receive this gift! This is our opportunity to nurture deeper reflection and connection within our community and get to know friends new and old.
SCHEDULE:
9:00am: All Parish Eucharist, live-streaming, including youth choirs
10:15: Interactive Session for all ages led by Callie Swanlund
11:30: Brown Bag Lunch and conversation
12:30pm: Retreat Sessions for adults led by Callie, Artapolooza for kids led by Aaron
3:00 Closing session for all ages
3:45: Cider and refreshment on the Patio with the Chapel Street Band
4:30: Las Olas Catered Community Dinner
Come as you are, there will be something for everyone and you can join in part or for the whole day. Everyone, without exception, is welcome.
Our retreat day will begin and end by being fed: first with combined worship and a shared meal at Christ's table, and concluding our day with a catered community dinner in true St. John’s fashion!
In between, the dynamic and inspired Rev. Callie Swanlund will guide us in connecting wholeheartedly with God, ourselves, and one another. Retreat means "time set apart" and the day will be nourishing, fun, and interactive; you're welcome to take part in some or all. Callie will draw on her experience as a priest and a Certified Daring Way Facilitator in the work of Brené Brown, and we're sure to leave feeling refreshed and connected.
We are so excited to enter into this day of intergenerational worship, celebration, community building and retreat. Participants of all ages will be led through a thoughtfully appointed day including age-specific breakout sessions. Aaron Jenkyn, artist and priest, will host Artapalooza for youth and children - a time to get messy and joyful together. The Chapel Street Band will entertain and a catered dinner from Las Olas Taqueria will be served.
Whole Family Retreat
All ages will gather together for worship and the opening and closing sessions, then midday youth ages 4-18 will have the opportunity to participate in St. John’s first ever Artapalooza, where we will create big, colorful, joyful artwork as a prayer for this community and the world.
