Musical Reflection—I wonder as I wander

Choral Scholars of SJC

I wonder as I wander out under the sky,

How Jesus, the Savior, did come for to die.

For poor ornery people like you and like I:

I wonder as I wander out under the sky.

When Mary birthed Jesus, ‘twas in a cows’ stall,

With wisemen and farmers and shepherds and all.

But high from God’s heaven a star’s light did fall,

And the promise of ages it then did recall.

If Jesus had wanted for any wee thing:

A star in the sky, or a bird on the wing;

Or all of God’s angels in heaven to sing,

He surely could have had it, ‘cause he was the King!

From Bishop Rob’s Epiphany Message last week: “Epiphany, a word that means showing or manifestation, revelation, is the time of year that we are asked to actively look for the glory of God in the hidden, in the darkness, in the shadows of our lives.”

‘I wonder as I wander out under the sky’

We continue to look for God’s light in the world during this Epiphany season.

‘How Jesus, the Savior, did come for to die.

For poor ornery people like you and like I:’

For me, a foreshadowing of Lent – the season to come.

‘I wonder as I wander out under the sky.’
