Resurrection

Being a bit older the current has a bigger impact on me than things that happened a longer time ago than I care to acknowledge. Having said that, however, the forsythia have been blooming around 21 April, our second child's birthday. This year is a little different. My Grandson, Oliver has gone to his heavenly reward just a year ago this very week. The Make-a-Wish Foundation made a bird feeder for him which was installed in the corner of his parents deck.

This year while watching  the traffic to the feeder, a couple of birds where engaged in some type of  spring ritual. One would hop  into the feeder, pick a seed, and hop out. It then presented the seed to another bird which was shaking its head and bobbing up and down. This went on for a few minutes until another bird, similar to the first two came around. The pair darted off towards the woods.

This is probably not unusual except that it was at Ollie's feeder. The thought came to me that in some way the events of the previous  year where helping with the cycle of life. Seemingly random events were helping bring the bounce back into this year's Spring.

For me this is an emotional link to the resurrection of the physical world which I see as a reflection of things that we cannot see, touch, or hear. Life is not limited to our perceptions, but they are a springboard to a richer and more vibrant existence. We only have to watch for the seemingly random connections that keep popping up in the most ordinary and extraordinary events.

And this year the forsythia burst out 10 days before 21 April.
