Heal

I have spent my whole life living next to or on the ocean.  On my desk sits a picture of my late father, well into his late 80's, alone in his last boat.  The inscription underneath the photo is taken from Psalm 139.

"If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
Even there your hand will lead me and your right hand hold me fast."

Sometimes the ocean is calm like glass and sometimes the ocean can be very ugly and threatening.  I have experienced both, thanking God for the smoothness and praying to God for safety when in danger. Up until recently my life was smooth like glass, but now it is dark and threatening, my life as I knew it changing all around me.  Daily I come back to those two verses from Psalm 139 and take solace in those words with which I can identify. Yes, there are things happening that make me uncomfortable but I can rely on God to hold me fast and see me through to calmer waters.
