Chemicals in our everyday environment and how to protect your health: A talk by Maia Fitzstevens from Silent Spring Institute.
Fitzstevens' talk will provide an overview of the Silent Spring Institute's mission and research on chemicals in drinking water and consumer products. Fitzstevens will present PFAS as an important class of drinking water contaminants in New Hampshire and across the country, and other drinking water contaminants of local concern such as arsenic and lead. She will also discuss other hormone-disrupting chemicals in consumer products such as BPA and BPA alternatives. Finally, Fitzstevens will share some examples of how Silent Spring's research has made a positive difference in protecting our health from toxic chemicals and provide some practical tips for how we can all reduce our exposure to toxic chemicals in our homes and workplaces. There will be plenty of time for questions. A light lunch will be served. All are welcome!
Presentation in Thaxter Hall.
