Holy Eucharist Rite One

  • St. John's Episcopal Church 101 Chapel Street Portsmouth, NH, 03801 United States (map)

A spoken Service of Holy Eucharist Rite One is celebrated in-person and online.

Winter has arrived in Portsmouth, and another snowstorm is expected early Sunday morning.

Our Sunday services will continue as planned, no matter the weather. However, due to the storm, we will not be offering any children’s programming, including nursery care, this weekend. All youth and children’s ministries will resume on February 16.

Additionally, the Coffee Hour planning meeting originally scheduled for tomorrow has been postponed to February 23.

Please take caution and make the decision that is right for you. And remember—you can always join us from the warmth and comfort of your home!

Stay safe, and we look forward to worshiping together in person or online.

The service of Holy Eucharist, also known as Communion or Mass, is the most important celebration of the Christian church. "Rite I" is the version of the liturgy that most closely follows the traditional language used in the Episcopal church and other Anglican churches for many generations in older versions of the Book of Common Prayer. Rite I was created in the Book of Common Prayer published in 1979. The 8am Holy Eucharist celebrated at St. John's using Rite I from today's prayer book is a quiet and contemplative service without music.
