Rick Considine
Faith
In my early years, my family regularly attended services at the Church of the Transfiguration, an Episcopal church in Edgewood, RI. Being quite musical, I joined the choir at age 9 and got very involved with the internal workings of that church. I also participated in the Boy Scouts of America, where, amongst many others, I earned my merit badge in Religion on my way to Eagle Scout.
Growing up somewhat and being at a curious stage, I suddenly asked my Dad one day, “Why DO we believe in God?” He answered: “FAITH in God is the bedrock of humanity. It has carried me through good times and bad. God will help you through all of this if you have FAITH”.
Looking over my life, I have been able to see what he meant! I have had my share of struggles, but also more than my share of successes. Although not a smashing success financially, I am more than blessed with personal success. I thank God every night for my full life, my dear wife, and our fine sons and their families. I also add that I am grateful for my upbringing with really special parents and two wonderful sisters, aunts and uncles, all of whom were deeply rooted in FAITH.
My wife, Marcia, is also rooted in FAITH, and has been since I first met her 57 years ago. Her FAITH is an inspiration to me, and has helped us maintain a great long-term marriage. I am not sure how all this would have been like without our mutual FAITH in God! I have FAITH that God will help this country heal from the divisiveness on both sides that has built up over the last 20+ years. God bless America!
