Tidbits with a Prayer
Elaine Wilson
Tidbits with a prayer…
I have a weekly/monthly planner that I purchased at Staples. I use a computer,-- write reports on it, send letters to family members, send texts with emojis, have an iphone, …but do not trust my phone to keep my calendar! I still need to write the information down. Recently, looking through my planner, my COVID calendar, I found little tidbits among the dates for cancelled weddings, vaccine dates and locations, and Zoom meetings. Little quotes and longer ones that helped me get through a minute, day, month …or year. As a “transfer Presbyterian” to St. John’s Episcopal Church, also my favorite prayer during this time became one from the BCP (as Episcopalians say), and I usually heard it weekly from Rob, Anne, or Nathan.
So, the tidbits first:
Practice Resurrection…What are we going to do with all this future?... Always be on the lookout for the presence of wonder…O God don’t teach me nothing new today! …Sometimes volunteering is as simple as reaching out to accept a gift given to you…and always—Blah, blah blah, Love!—more later…
This is another day, O Lord. I know not what it will bring forth, but make me ready Lord for whatever it may be. If I am to stand up, help me to stand bravely. If I am to sit still, help me to sit quietly. If I am to lie low, help me to do it patiently. And if I am to do nothing, let me do it gallantly. Make these words more than words, and give me the spirit of Jesus.
Amen
