What if?
Fran Meffen
What if……
What if the reflections that start our day were the prayers that we say in our mind, body and soul. The prayers that we are hoping God will hear and respond to with grace, love, and healing. There is a prayer community that I join as part of my morning practice led by Stephen Charleston and I follow it by doing a meditation. This is my way of filling my compassionate heart with the love of community and the light of the Spirit to bring me to another day where I may be well and experience continued healing, be reminded of, and wrapped in God’s unconditional love and feel the Peace of the Lord round about me. It continues to amaze me that by taking these couple of steps before jumping into the day quiets my mind and allows me to start anew.
My prayers are many, but they often end with knowing that God’s grace is enough and that the hopes in my prayers are heard even if they are not answered or fulfilled as quickly as I might want.
My prayer for the family of St. John’s is that we look beyond our magnificent walls and see the light that shines on those in need, those who are living under the darkness of war, those who are seeking peace by coming to the US, to the children who need a safe place to call home. We are so very blessed at St. John’s, and I pray that each of us finds our way of sharing that blessing, our gifts. I know that having joined the group making blankets and quilts has given me a creative way to send love out into the world and to help with healing. There is enough, more than enough time, talent, and compassion amongst us to shine the light and share the grace of God each and every day.
Happy New Year and Many Blessings
