DIVINE DISRUPTION

The Rev. Aaron B. Jenkyn preaches on the Gospel of Matthew 21:23-32.

Jesus came into Jerusalem, disrupting the status quo, and those in positions of authority were quick to try to put a stop to it. What would you have done if you were in their shoes?

In the space between faith in God and a desire to uphold the institution, or the status quo, or our own privilege, a blind spot can emerge, and it becomes hard to recognize the moments when God is doing a new thing.

How do we make sure that we don’t have blind spots when God has something new to renew in us? How do we live out the truth that authentic obedience includes responding in faith to the new things God is doing in our own lives and in the life of this community?
