A Prosem (Prose-Poem) for Uncertain Times

Prosems can give some expression to the quieter “voices within”, and help us feel a bit more grounded in these unusual times.

Covid Questions

So many queries rise in my consciousness
While some threaten silently below
Is this to be my time?
Who will remember?
What is done and left undone?

Uncertainty flies on misty droplets
That Seems to grow in isolation,
Inflamed by numbing air waves
Can I carry this hopeless part of my life?
Perhaps not, unless I choose?

What’s important now?
For whom do I give thanks?
What will I do to help?
Is my family safe?
What are my friends doing?

I miss knowing.

What new purpose awaits?
Can we welcome Spring now?
Is it time yet, for humor, fun and play?
Even something silly stupid?
For just a moment?

Covid pandemic begins and ends with C
To introduce Cousins of Can we
Be Curious with others, at six feet?
Stay Conscious to find solutions?
Have Courage to engage our doubts?

Celebrate a unity against the killer
Virus, of angry polarities before?
To Create a non-partisan
Collaboration for future Peace?
In which hearts and earth spell One?
