What is a prayer that has special meaning for you?
The little sparrow is humble and brown. Many of them come to my feeders and sing up in the trees around me. Their songs are so joyful! Why should that little bird feel so free and joyful to sing in the treetops? God made him that way; I suppose that’s why. Watching and listening to the birds brings me real peace and joy. I think of my loved ones who have gone on to their heavenly home a lot when I sit in that space. And sometimes I join my voice with theirs, in prayer, in song… whatever you’d like to call that sense of freedom and happiness and connection to God… just like that little sparrow.
Why should I feel discouraged
Why should the shadows come
Why should my heart be lonely
And long for heav’n and home
When Jesus is my portion
A constant friend is He
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know He watches me
