Trust

Tales of the Old Forest Faeries

And when we grow up We must never forget That hidden, deep down Within us Is our forever inner child Resting, silently
Forever waiting
Forever hoping That one day
We shall remember it

My inner child was awakened many years ago while working as a counselor/nurse in a chemical dependency unit. Our twenty eight day in patient program included many therapeutic tools and the “Child Within’ was one that fascinated me. This process required the patients to explore and revisit their childhood years. For many this was a daunting and painful task due to the abuse, abandonment and/or exploitation that they had endured. With kindness and support we guided them through the painful memories of childhood with the intention of healing the scarred child. In many situations the healed child would eventually allow the visualization of an innocent and beautiful time of love and trust. Embracing the battered child with love and understanding a healing process can begin, then a new sense of empowerment may follow. With time and encouragement many will realize an emotional growth with a new ability to trust. This new trust may extend to belief in a Higher Power and the path to recovery

My inner child within was far more fortunate for she enjoyed a great familial circle of love. My grandmother, a true matriarch of our Irish Catholic family, became my guiding light. We lived with her during my early years and she showered me with love and affection. She introduced me to God through her devotion to the Blessed Mother and she taught me my first prayers which greatly comforted me. I was truly blessed with love and protection and felt pure trust in family and God. In these uncertain days of chaos and violence I frequently visit that child of love and trust and I pray those beautiful prayers that my dear grandmother taught me so many years ago. My path to God through my child within is uncomplicated and sweet, a lovely time of innocence with moments of complete TRUST.

Our inner child can be a marvelous blessing in finding TRUST.

“Assuredly, I say to you, unless you change and become as little children, you Will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18
