Go vote. And also pray. Throughout the week, the sanctuary will be open, we will offer morning prayer and a sabbath walk, as well as an interfaith prayer vigil at the African Burying Ground on Tuesday night. You are welcome in a spirit of peace to any and all of these prayerful moments this week:
Tuesday and Wednesday, 9am-3pm St. John’s Sanctuary Open for Prayer. Candles and prayer cards will be available for all who need a quiet place to pray.
Tuesday and Wednesday, 10-10:30am Quiet Pause: Election Day Prayers for Peace. Join St. John’s clergy and staff in the sanctuary for a quiet pause, a chance to seek stillness and prayer for peace in our nation and the world. Prayers will be adapted from the Coorymeela Prayerbook.
Tuesday 7-7:30pm Community Prayer Vigil. Join faith communities from around the seacoast for an Election Night prayer vigil at the African Burial Grounds in Portsmouth, NH.
Wednesday 5-6pm Sabbath Walk Join us for a special Sabbath Walk, in which we will gather in peace, to read poetry, pray and let the wind and trees, the birds and crickets pastor our hearts and minds. Gift yourself this hour of peace in nature this week. Sabbath walks take place at the Little Harbor Trailhead (400 Little Harbor Road) and are accessible to all ages and abilities.
