And God is love, God is love, God is love. When we read scripture, we need to read it with God at the center, looking for the love of Jesus in the message and words. How is Jesus leading us to the heart of God through this parable?

My father held up a bill, any denomination, and noted that this is only a piece of paper. It has almost no value in itself, and takes on value only when it is used for something. He would point to the beautiful half-moon fireplace in the corner of the living room with its andirons and grate filled with logs. You can use this piece of paper all for your own use, or you can light a fire to warm yourself and others. The choice is yours.

Today, the time to reflect and reset is a gift that St. John’s continues to give me. And, like many of you, I have had the good fortune of raising a family at St. John’s, and they, too, can experience this gift of peace and renewal. I will be forever grateful for the spiritual guidance St. John’s has provided for my family.
